Our grape wine turned out so well I decided to make some pear wine. A lady in our area gave us some pears to make preserves with, but they weren't the right kind for preserves. No one in the family wanted to eat them and we don't like pear butter. Wine was the only other thing I could think of to make with them.
I have the pears in jars fermenting, along with the yeast and water. It will be ready on November 20th, just in time for Thanksgiving. It's a small batch and should yield about 1 gallon. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Have a great day!

How did the wine turnout? I found my way here by chance but while I was here did some browsing through your blog. You've created a great spot to visit and I really enjoyed the time I spent here. It is a shame you don't post more often. I hope you have a great weekend. Blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteHi, Mary. I just wanted you to know why I never replied to your question. Not long after you posted your question I lost access to my blog. Google had somehow confused me with my sister-in-law who had logged into her email on our computer a few times. Google said that her email was the admin email. I still couldn't get in with her password, but just this week I managed to solve the mystery of what happened and am in the driver's seat again. : )
DeleteTo answer your question, the pear wine didn't have much flavor, no surprise there. I'll just use it in my cooking since I don't want to waste it. I wrote a short post about it, nothing very interesting, though.
Thank you for stopping in and for the sweet words. It made me feel good to know that I might be writing some things that others can enjoy. I hope to be more diligent at posting in the future. I hope you have a good evening,
Barbara
